In The Books
Butler 66, Villanova 58: The Bulldogs now own a road win over Utah, neutral court wins over Arizona and Indiana and home wins against Cincinnati, Villanova, Providence, Northwestern and previously unbeaten and overall #1 seed Villanova. If they hadn't dropped look-ahead games to St. John's and Indiana, they'd be a top seed in the bracket.
Notre Dame 77, Louisville 70: The ACC is going to beat a lot of good teams up the next few months. Louisville is one of it's earlier victims, falling to 1-2 in conference play.
Pittsburgh 88, Virginia 76: The Panthers pick up their biggest win of the year while Virgina (like Louisville above) falls to 1-2 in ACC play after opening up conference season with a win at the Yum! Center.
Duke 110, Georgia Tech 57: With Grayson Allen back in the starting lineup, the Blue Devils ran past Tech, nearly doubling their score.
Syracuse 70, Miami 55: The loss puts an end to Miami's seven game winning streak. They're now 0-3 against the KenPom Top 50. Syraucse hasn't won back-to-back games since Thanksgiving. They'll try to do that this weekend at home against Pitt.
Texas 82, Oklahoma St. 79: Finally a sign of life from Shaka Smart's Longhorns, which isn't good news for an OK State team that falls to 0-2 in conference play heading into Saturday's game with Baylor.
Baylor 65, Iowa St. 63: The Bears escape with a home win and improve to 14-0 and are now one of only two undefeateds left (along with Gonzaga). If they can beat Oklahoma St on Saturday, they'll likely be the #1 overall seed in next week's Bracketology 2017.
Tipping off Tonight
Purdue at Ohio St: The Bucketes are still searching for their first win over a KenPom Top 50 team. They'll have plenty of opportunity to do it, as their next four opponents (Purdue, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan St) are all ranked in the Top 50. Meanwhile, Purdue looks to bounce back from their overtime home loss to Minnesota on Saturday.
Iowa at Nebraska: All the sudden this is a game to watch after Iowa knocked off Michigan at home in Overtime and Nebraska's impressive 2-0 B1G start with road wins over Maryland and Indiana.
BYU at Saint Mary's: The Cougars are 11-4, but need a better win to their name than Colorado to catch the committee's attention. This road game at a fellow WCC contender is one of their few remaining chances for it.
Utah at Arizona: The Utes also need some quality wins, but will have to end Arizona's seven game winning streak.
